On 24 March, the General Assembly of the General Anthroposophical Society did not approve the motion to extend the terms of office for Paul Mackay and Bodo von Plato on the Executive Council. The Goetheanum Leadership then reorganised all assignments and tasks. In parallel, the operational management carried out an internal operating analysis. As a result, the Goetheanum Leadership has decided to rethink its organisational structure.
The core of the Goetheanum is the School for Spiritual Science with its eleven Sections. The work of each of the operational departments and their respective activities, such as reception, event coordination, housekeeping and gardening, is now assigned to a specific section. In this way, the idea of the School for Spiritual Science shall become effective right down into to its implementation on site and the experience gained in practice will be made available to the School as a benefit.
The objective is a subdivided responsibility: hierarchies should be flattened, more personal responsibility and self-management made possible, and the connection of the individual to the whole should be expanded. Justus Wittich, member of the Executive Council and operational management, invited the employees to participate in this transformation. "This is a process that will take some time. We will fail again, and again. But that's not bad—even then we will carry on."
