Founding of the World Goetheanum Association

Created by Jonas Lismont, Translation: Bettina Hindes |
On the 17th and 18th of May 2018 at the Goetheanum, representatives from 75 companies and institutions as well as independent professionals founded the World Goetheanum Association. It seeks international, cross-industry cooperation between its partners and the globally active School for Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum.

According to its charter, the World Goetheanum Association creates "a worldwide forum that is oriented towards the future development of mankind and the earth". This framework is intended to provide an open space for entrepreneurs to exchange ideas on questions of associative economics and to intensify the connection with the Goetheanum as the centre of the School for Spiritual Science.

"One of the Association's central tasks is to promote a culture based upon brotherhood," says Gerald Häfner, Leader of the Section for Social Sciences at the Goetheanum. To this end, it is necessary "to connect intellectual activities with economic activity," said Fabio Brescacin, President of EcorNaturaSì (Italy) during the foundation meeting. Thomas Jorberg, CEO of GLS-Bank (Germany), calls for support of the School for Spiritual Science as a source of innovative ideas, to which GLS-Bank also owes its origins.

The foundation of the World Goetheanum Association was planned by a group of members of the Goetheanum leadership and partners from agriculture, business, commerce and banking, education, medicine and social therapy since 2017. The aim of the Association is to promote anthroposophical impulses in companies, institutions and independent enterprises, and cooperation in the form of associations to support the concordant development of the School for Spiritual Science.

World Goetheanum Forum, 28 to 30 September 2018, Goetheanum. With discussions on current affairs and presentations by companies and institutions. Among others with Helmy Abouleish (Sekem, Egypt), Haci Bayram (Par-ce-val, youth welfare association, Germany), Peter Blom (Triodos-Bank, Netherlands) and Ha Vinh Tho (Gross National Happiness Centre, Bhutan).
