The Goetheanum Library has approximately 110,000 books. Hours:  Tuesdays 14:00 - 19:00; Fridays 14:00 - 18:00

Study Programs

The Goetheanum offers a full-year study program, "Foundations of Anthroposophy," in English! (The full-time study overseen by the General Anthroposophic Section, is also offered in Spanish/Portuguese and German.) Students from around the world, of various backgrounds and ages, come for an academic year of Anthroposophic studies, including artistic classes.

There are 11 sections at the Goetheanum that offer conferences throughout the year, often translated or held in multiple languages. See the individual websites for current programs.

The following schools and sections offer occupational Anthroposophical courses, diploma programs and research options in Dornach: eurythmy (performing arts section), painting (visual art section), educationbiodynamic agriculturemedicinemathmatics/astronomy and natural science. The youth section located on the Goetheanum hill, houses a multitude of activities and international conferences in English, German and Spanish. The literary arts and humanities section and the social science section can be contacted for questions about involvement, study or research.

Youth Section: Two New Employees

Since September 2013, Elizabeth Davison and Jonathan Uhmann have begun work in the Youth Section. Elizabeth will be involved in organizing conferences and the international network, and Jonathan will care for the Youth Section house. Lisa Seidel will stay on until the end of the year.

Constanza Kaliks, leader of the Youthsection, has two new employees since September: Elizabeth Davison (26) takes care of the organization of conferences and other meetings. She studyied Music and Waldorf Pedagogy in Plymouth (UK) and spent the last year as an au pair in Paris.

Jonathan Uhmann (25) works mainly in the Youth Section's House (Dorneckstrasse 1). He studyied Philosophy and Economics at Alanus University in Alfter (Germany).

Lisa Seidel (25) will be devoted to new tasks in 2014. Since 2011 she has worked for the Youth Section, first with Elizabeth Wirsching and now with Constanza Kaliks. This year she will finish her Masters in Peace Studies at the University of Basel.

The Goetheanum is a center of a worldwide network of spiritually engaged people. It is the seat of the School of Spiritual Science  and the General Anthroposophical Society, which serves as a place of exchange for those with spiritual questions, and a place for trainings in scientific and artistic fields. 

Events range from lectures on special themes, to large, international conferences, to performances by  ensembles and guest performances in Eurythmy, theater, puppetry and music. 

Situated in the Jura landscape, 10 Kilometers South of Basel, the Goetheanum sits grand on the Dornach hill, with its expressive architecture and picturesque garden park, café, bookstore and gift shop.
