Individual Studies in the Sections

Responsible

Oliver Conradt, Robin Schmidt, Elizabeth Wirsching, Heinz Zimmermann, as well as the leader of the relevant Section.

Objectives

The Individual Studies Program at the Goetheanum is a full-time program based on Anthroposophy. Students work on projects in their respective fields of study. The specific subject, form and aim of each program is set with the support of a mentor. Students are responsible for the organisation of the program’s structure and the different courses. Therefore this program requires a high level of independence in working with Anthroposophy and one’s individual study project, as well as the initiative to work together with other students.

Aims of this program:

- Studying a subject area on the basis of Anthroposophy

- Completion of a scientific or artistic study project

- Working on an individual research question, or joining a current project in the Sections

Content and Time Frame

The maximum duration of this program is three years. Students organise their own seminars. Students may attend the courses and lectures of other programs. They are obliged to present the results of their studies in a colloquium regularly.

Terms of Admission

It is expected that students are able to apply their knowledge of Anthroposophy independently to their respective areas of study. Normally, the Individual Studies Program will be preceded by the participation in the «Anthroposophical Studies 2nd Year» Program in order to develop the necessary qualifications. Students need to be able to plan and conduct their studies independently. They must have a good command of spoken and written English (or German). The program does not provide an academic degree nor an acknowledged professional training. Further accreditation lies in the responsibility of the student. Students are required to apply with a completed project or research proposal. Admission is based on a written application and a conversation.

Tuition

CHF 1500.– per semester; possibly additional costs, depending on the requirements of the study subject.
